Meet Tina Posterli

Tina Posterli is a communications professional who has dedicated her career to creating meaningful change in the healthcare, education, workforce development, and environmental sectors. Tina has lived in the district for over two decades, serving with distinction as a Long Beach City Council member and President of the Long Beach Public Schools Board of Education.

Tina has a track record of helping organizations, boards, and coalitions work together to advance policies that have empowered people in our community, including:

● Establishing healthcare equity and access to reproductive health care for medically underserved populations.

● Protecting drinking water supplies from pollutants regionally, nationally, and worldwide.

●  Successfully advocating for legislation that ensures equal educational opportunities for children with disabilities.

As a City Council member, Tina pushed forward investments in infrastructure to bring long-needed flood protections for the City's north shore, and grants to re-engineer the sewage system to stop the discharge of millions of gallons of effluent into Reynolds Channel each day. She also worked to make Long Beach one of the top 22 safest cities in the U.S. by investing in upgrades to Police Department technology, negotiating and approving the first contract in 18 years for the Long Beach PBA, and implementing the City's first gun buy-back program in six years.

Her school board accomplishments include working with District, State, and County officials to keep schools open throughout the pandemic and on a budget process that resulted in a 0% tax levy increase for 2021-2022 along with curriculum enhancements and facilities upgrades.

Tina has a history of  building relationships with diverse stakeholders to foster consensus and drive collective action toward common goals. She values diverse opinions and is always seeking to understand alternative viewpoints to find common ground and develop solutions that go beyond short-term fixes.

issues

Education:

● Investing in our students through Commonsense Corporate Revenue Proposals that will allow the state to fund much-needed health, safety, and educational programs for communities and students throughout the state.

● Fully funding Foundation Aid and conducting a study to update the nearly 20year-old Foundation Aid formula.

Reproductive and Equality Rights:

● Protecting against any government actions that would curtail a person’s reproductive autonomy, access to reproductive healthcare, or core freedoms by enshrining a broad series of equality rights into our state's Equal Rights Amendment.

Clean Water Initiatives:

● Enacting the Safe Water Infrastructure Action Program to provide funding for local drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.

● Limiting specific types of the “forever chemicals” through the PFAS Discharge Disclosure Act, which would require all permitted facilities and industrial users discharging waste to conduct annual PFAS testing and make the resulting data publicly available.

● Appropriating $500 million in funding for flood mitigation, stormwater mitigation, and other water resiliency projects via the Water Resiliency Projects Fund.
